Every batch of Herman Marshall Whiskey is handcrafted in-house, right here in Garland. Co-founders Marshall Louis and Herman Beckley founded Dallas Distilleries, Dallas County’s first whiskey distillery, with the sole interest of producing the finest whiskies in the region. From their very first batch, its whiskey has soared onto the national spirits scene, earning a coveted silver medal and scoring an astounding 93 points for its Texas Bourbon at the 2013 American Distilling Institute’s Annual Spirits Competition. Come tour the distillery, but be prepared to stay a while as the partners have quite a few stories to share over a glass of the finest in Texas. While there, don’t forgot to try the Texas Rye Whiskey which, as D Magazine notes, “highlights the slightly smoky, earthy aromas of the rye, with toasted oak, sweet spice, and caramel undertone.” Now that’s worth tasting.
